Reviews of Gone Fishin' 2011 & 2010 from our guest book..with more to come.

All these reviews for 2011 & 2010 of Gone Fishin' are copied 'as is' from our guest book .

2011....Sue & Jo from Dax in France.A big thank you to you both for helping to make our stay memorable. We found the gite spotless, comfortable and your added thoughtful extras a bonus. The private garden area was a perfect second bedroom!! for that added rest and relaxation. Painting, fishing and chilling skills all enhanced in a matter of a few days.We are looking forward to seeing you again in September and probably May 2012. Enough said . Kind Regards to your Kermit and the "girls".

2011....Christine & Jorgan from Sydney Australia.Thank you Jenny, Alan, for a very comfortable stay. We had everything we needed & it was lovely and comfortable. Being able to go outside was a lovely change and we made the most of it- a pity we cant stay longer.

2011.... Christine and Peter. North Berwick, Scotland. Jenny and Alan a big thank you to you both for making our stay with you so enjoyable and special. We have both benefited from the rest and feel refreshed and ready to go back to work and a busy summer ahead. The area is beautiful and we have enjoyed exploring. We hope to be back some time in the future to visit with you both.

2011....Bernard & Anne from Carlisle. The gite and its amenities are 5 star. Ambling to pick cherries and plums on a hot summer day are what dreams are made of and the  fishing top quality rounded off by 2 large carp  between 10 and 12 lb. We enjoyed the wildlife down at the lake nearly as much as the fishing. Watching the coypu , the wood mice the butterflies , the woodpeckers and the hares. Sadly our holiday was cut short because of a medical problem but all the emergency services were highly professional and Alan and Jenny were very helpful and reassuring.

2011....Di and Maggie from Spain. Back for the 3rd time, and we have already booked the fourt for 2012. Everything as we remember it, and we really appreciated the upgrades. We have never had the leisure and the opportunity to watch so much of the tennis at Wimbledon. Once again, our thanks to Jenny and Alan for making our stay so enjoyable. We must also thank "the girls" for their contribution to our breakfast table. Kermits morning visits will be sorely missed, but we look forward to seeing everyone again next year.

2011.... Sue and Keith Baker from Doncaster. Jenny and Alan, thank you very much for a wonderful 3 week stay at Gone Fishin'. We have been so comfortable in the gite/cottage, it is such a lovely setting in an area with so many interesting places to visit. We have enjoyed our days out but also the peace and tranquillity of relaxing in the garden. We need a bit of practice with the fishing and snooker ( you will know, who needs what!!) but enjoyed having a go. The eggs from the girls and the garden produce have been very much appreciated and we have absolutely loved having our little companion Kermit. Thank you all for your kindness and friendship and we very much look forward to seeing you all again next year.

2011....Jean and David Stokes from Stourbridge. We have enjoyed our stay with you so much. Thank you Jenny and Alan for all you have done and all the suggestions you gave us to see  interesting places . We have enjoyed all the lovely sounds around here like the quacking ducks and the clucking hens - I shall never play that Haydn Sonata again without thinking of the 'girls' and their lovely eggs. Thank you for sharing everything you have with us from your kitchen garden- we have really appreciated it, from the day we arrived to the day we go home. We look forward to coming again next year.

2011....Colin and Sally from Hertfordshire. Seven years since our first visit- the years have flown by - but not as quickly as the lovely weeks in this tranquil and very beautiful part of France. Once again we have enjoyed the company and hospitality of our hosts A & J. Thank goodness I bagged a decent pair of Carp, one a beautiful golden brown of 6-7 kgs. Must apologise about the rubbish game of pool and snooker yours (A) and mine, J was a revelation and obviously well coached. Looking forward to returning after my impending retirement- Colin.
Iv'e had a wonderful restful holiday and thanks to you Jenny I am now using my artistic talents again. Looking forward to seeing you both soon - Sally.

2011....Brian and Beryl Sherriff Surrey. Where have the weeks gone! Gone Fishing- gone enjoying the gite, garden, gazebo, orchard, BBQ, and feeding the girls and last but not least Alan and Jenny and Kermit - Home from Home. We are booked for next year.
Many thanks from the 2B's.

2011.... Kevin and Lene Brown California USA. Thanks a million for the warm hospitality and tips of the area, we've had a fantastic trip, if too short. A wonderful place to stay with wonderful fall weather, a beautiful time of year to visit  Sep/Oct. Would love to come back and will recommend to anyone heading to the South of France. If you find yourselves in CA - come by!!. Hugs and Bonjour. No wait, au revoir. Len and Kevin.
                                              -------------------------

2010 ....Claire & Mike from Alpes Maritines.Firstly, thanks to Alan & Jenny for taking us at short notice. Great hospitality and wonderfully peaceful location. Thanks also to "the Girls" for their eggs. We came for a complete break and this area is very different from the area in France we live in- so we did a huge amount of exploring rather than lazing around at "Gone Fishin". Of the many, many places we have visited this week are favourites have been :

Best villages: Penne d'Agenais, Tournon d'Agenais, Praysass & Pujol. Other places of interest if your passing: Nerac, Vianne (bastide), Meilhan sur Garonne (for the fabulous panorama and the Caste of Bonaguil & Duras.

We brought our sat nav which told us of some fabulous roads that we would never have dreamt of taking if following a map, some gorgeous sights. Thanks again Claire and Mike.

2010.... May & Bob from Scotland. Second time around and still enjoyed our surroundings and the hospitality of Jen & Alan. The delightful gite had all the necessary equipment and was extremely comfortable. Our hosts are warm and very helpful providing a wonderful base for those who wish to "day tour" and a restful second home for those who want and need to rest/phase out!

2010.... John & Olwen from Lincolnshire. We have had a lovely peaceful holiday and have been back to all the places we enjoyed the last time and also founf some new places. We will definetly be back.

2010.... Christine & Roger from Scotland. This is a beautiful part of France and we have so enjoyed seeing places we have visited. The weather has not been very kind to us but we are assured that this is most unusual for this time of year. Jenny and Alan have been delightful hosts and have made us as comfortable as possible under the circumstances. We have especially enjoyed our last couple of days of good weather and the farewell drinks this evening. Hope to be back one day.

2010.... Kate and Nick from Glostershire. We've just finished  our week here and we've had a wonderful time. Thoroughly relaxing. Alan & Jenny have been lovely & very helpful. Beautiful surroundings, just the type of holiday we needed.

2010.... Pat and Andy from Leighton Buzzard. Well what can I add to the long string of compliments that I endorse ten fold for this visitas well. We cannot believe that this was our fifth visit to two people we class now as friends. We shall return.

2010.... Sue and Karim from Bedfordshire . Thanks Alan and jenny, once again for allowing us 2 weeks in your lovely home. We are relaxed and ready for the year ahead! Thank you again- see you both again. Hope someone catches that turtle.

2010.... Gerard and Barbara from Berkshire. The turtle is no more! (Unless he had a little chum). Many thanks for a wonderful stay-the fishing has been fantastic. The lake holds a good stock of Common Carp-my best was about 6lbs. There are also some super specimens of Crucian carp and large Rudd. On one memorable morning I bagged 12 large commons, 3 Crucians and a plump Rudd, for a total of about 70lbs in 3hrs-super sport! The fish are all in super condition-Jenny might show you the photo's if you are really keen. Best bait seemed to be sweetcorn, fished over 'loose fed trout pellets'. To all who follow 'tight lines'. We did however, have time to do other things.Best places were Agen, Nerac, Cassenuil, Laparade, Vianne, and countryside around Prayssas. The water lilly gardens and Bonaguil Castle and Remy's for lunch. Only  a half hour walk. Thank you for the plant cuttings; they'll remind us of our wonderful stay at 'Gone Fishin' and our kind and generous hosts.

2010....Di and Maggie from Spain. A return visit-2 weeks this time. Even more relaxing than before - much needed after a very busy year. Too bad that we cant stay longer so that we can explore more places than the Water Lilly Garden; the prune museum; and Pujols-yes we did relax / rather lazy!- all the more reason for another visit next year. We have enjoyed your generous hospitality and kermits company. We shall think of you when we admire the plants on the terrace you gave us.

2010.... Roy and Marge Brookes, Staffs, UK. Many thanks for a superb holiday the second time around. The weather has been fantastic for 2 weeks.

We have enjoyed your garden produce and the "girls" have supplied us with plenty of eggs. Thanks for the Boules lesson and the trips out. The medieval villages are so interesting to wander arounds and photograph. The peace and tranquillity of the garden and lake is heavenly. Au Revoir till we meet again, we have enjoyed your company. Marg and Roy.

2010....Phil and Darren. We had such a fabulous week in the gite in gone fishin'. Jenny and Alan are perfect hosts. We lead busy lives and a week of utter relaxation was just what we needed. Sitting down by the lake with a glass of wine watching the sunset is a must. We loved floating around on the boat just watching the ducks go by. A great nights sleep is had by all in the gite (thank god for the french and their shutters!) and such a wonderful garden area to just chill out in. We thoroughly reccommed that you go to the routier at least 3 times during your stay. The food is such good value and just simple out of this world fayre."

2010.... Shirley and Enslin Remy. Charente-Maritime (17). Thank you so much Jenny and Alan for giving us such a warm welcome and for all your kindness during our stay in your delightful gîte. It has given us such a needed rest. We liked Clairac very much. Enjoyed some excellent lunches- "The Auberge de Clairac" (a bit pricey but well worth the extra few euro's), "l'Écuelle d'Or" (superb 3 course lunch for ¤17) and of course "Rémy's Routier". The "Les Ecuries" in the medieval quarter of Aiguillon was also very nice and reasonably priced. We would love to come again-hopefully, next time in better health.Dear Jenny and Alan,It is almost a month since we had our lovely holiday with you and I have only now managed to get down to writing properly.   We had such a wonderful little holiday, at a time when we desperately needed a break, and will always be grateful to you for looking after us so well.  You really are the perfect hosts and the gite is by far the best we have ever stayed in - and we have stayed in many, many gites since we came to live in France fifteen years ago.  Your attention to detail is excellent and these things are so important to guests, especially "golden oldies" like ourselves.  Incidentally, this is one of the things that appealed to us most - the suitability to older or less-able people;  the fact that it is all on one, ground-floor level, the large shower room and the gorgeous comfy bed, to name but a few!

And then there is the wonderful ambiance of "Gone Fishin'" itself!  It is really idyllic - so restful and peaceful and good for the soul!
We really didn't have the inclination to travel very far - much nicer just lazing around "Gone Fishin'".  As you know, we did enjoy our lunches out.  You are fortunate to have a choice of excellent restaurants in both Aiguillon and Clairac.

Thank you again for giving us such a lovely time.  We enjoyed getting to know Kermit and "The Girls".

2010.... Valerie & Barry Johnson. Firstly congratulations to you both for creating a harmonious friendly, happy, peaceful, relaxing environment. Friends- thank you so much for such a warm welcome, help and friendship you have shown to us over this past week . Let us know when you are going to Australia - we would love to reciprocate. We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay here at Gone Fishin and wish you both well for the future.

A closing note from Alan and Jenny here at Gone Fishin..... thank you to all our guests who have stayed here this summer in 2010, we are already looking forward to 2011 to seeing some returning guests and of course meeting new ones.
